Giving back has always been something close to my heart.
Before starting Chicks & Wicks, I built my career in healthcare—first in nursing and now as a nurse practitioner, where I still practice part-time. Caring for others has always been a part of who I am, and that doesn’t stop when I leave the clinical setting.
These fundraisers are a way for me to extend that care beyond my day-to-day work—into the community that has supported me, my family, and this small business. It’s about using something I’ve created with my hands to make a meaningful difference, even in a small way.
Supporting the Care Closet and the Humane Society of Lake County means helping provide care, compassion, and second chances across our community. The Care Closet works to ensure children have food to take home on the weekends, while the Humane Society provides safety and care for animals in need.
To me, that’s what community is about—showing up, giving back, and taking care of both people and animals who need it most.
