In 2022, while working as a substitute teacher at Sorrento Elementary, Angie began to notice something that couldn’t be ignored.

Students weren’t just taking food home for snacks — they were taking it because they didn’t have enough to eat in the evenings and on weekends.

What started as quietly placing extra food into her backpack for students quickly grew into something much bigger.

With no official funding, Angie began using her own money and collecting donations to support these children. As the need grew, so did the mission.

Together with her students, they created The Care Closet — a safe and welcoming place where food and essentials could be stored for those who needed it most.

Today, thanks to the support of the local community, The Care Closet provides weekly meal bags to families — no forms, no requirements, no barriers.

Because no child should ever have to wonder where their next meal is coming from.
